DATE: Victorian, c.1900

Superb late Victorian bar brooch featuring a rose diamond-studded robin with ruby eyes, perched on a mistletoe branch with white berries represented by pearls. It's beautifully made, set on a platinum fronted bar and otherwise modelled in 18 karat gold. Very typically Victorian, although unusual to see one with such an overtly Christmassy theme.
